Alaya Spencer-Cotton is an environmental economist and Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, specialising in the valuation of marine and coastal ecosystems. Her research focuses on community values, non-market valuation, and decision-support tools for ocean governance, coastal adaptation, and nature-positive investment. She works with communities, government, and industry to translate socio-economic evidence into practice.
